Scenery Downloads and Design

Having been interested in scenery design from FS4 days I provide two links on this page. One is for some UK scenery projects I have been involved in and one is for a section devoted to scenery design with, hopefully, some useful tutorials for beginners to this rewarding hobby.

Scenery Downloads

The scenery downloads page contains a selection of UK scenery files for FS2002 and FS2004.

Scenery Design

For FS users interested in scenery design I have written tutorials on basic design procedures and some issues specific to designing in the UK.

The pages include information on

Design Techniques - AFCAD creation, Autogen building, Library files and 3D objects.

Design Tools - EOD, FSDS, GMax (with some basic instruction on GMax techniques).

Design Links - links to design related web sites

Visual Flight Photo Scenery

One fascinating side effect of users flying over the UK with the VFGM photo scenery was the constant discovery of striking ground features. As well as the man made objects like roman roads, the MIRA test track (visible from 25,000ft!) and country estates with tree lined avenues of impressive length, the photo scenery also started to reveal more ancient discoveries.

In some areas long dried up river beds are clearly visible. So too are traces of land occupation of our ancestors. The last was interesting enough to collect some screenshots, together with photographs of known sites for comparison. You can view the results on my  Archaeological Screenshots page.
